The Atlanta Westie Rescue Committee
A Service of the Westie Club of the South, Inc.

How to Surrender your Westie

If you are a Georgia resident and you have made the difficult decision to surrender your Westie for adoption to a pre-screened, loving home, please refer to How to Surrender Your Westie.  This section will explain the procedure and list the information you will need to provide to us.  It will also give you the name of the person to contact to arrange for the surrender of your westie.

Note:  We cannot take any westie into our program that has bitten someone or that has attempted to bite someone.  Contact a dog trainer in your area who specializes in training aggressive dogs to discuss your options.

How to Adopt a Westie

If you have been thinking of adopting a rescued Westie and you are a Georgia resident, please refer to:  How to Apply to Adopt a Westie.  Here we will explain our adoption procedures and requirements. The application to apply for a rescued Westie can be found there as well.  Please do not complete and send the application until you are ready to adopt.

Westie Rescue Success Stories

We are very proud of our many rescued Westie success stories.  For pictures and information on some of the Westies that we have placed in loving homes, please refer to:  Westie Rescue Success Stories:  Happy Tails.  Reading these stories is highly recommended for those interested in adopting a rescued westie, as they give a sense of the process, the challenges and the rewards.  Please note these westies are not available for adoption.

Our Westie Rescue Volunteers

An all-volunteer group runs our Westie Rescue program.  We will respond to your inquires as soon as we can.  We ask for your patience and cooperation in understanding that other priorities may sometimes take precedence.  However, we will do everything we can to assist you in a timely manner.

Westies as Christmas Gifts

We reserve the right to suspend adoptions around the Christmas holiday. A westie for Christmas may seem like a good idea, but it is not the right time to bring a rescued westie home. Please see "No Holiday Puppies" for more information.

We hope you find the information helpful.
